Walmart price match policy: what it covers and what it skips
Stores match Walmart.com for identical items, Walmart.com matches nothing, and Rollback prices are out. Here is what that means for when you buy.
Walmart's price match policy is narrow. A Walmart U.S. store will match the Walmart.com price of the identical item if you ask at checkout, but Walmart.com itself matches nothing, not competitors and not its own later price cuts. That is how Walmart's published policy reads as of November 2026 (the policy text is dated June 8, 2023). With so little matched after the fact, the useful habit is to learn about a drop before you buy, which is what a price alert from AyeWatch is for.
Does Walmart match Amazon, Target or other stores?
No. Competitors' online and in-store prices are the first item on Walmart's list of prices it does not match. Whatever Amazon, Target or Best Buy charges, the store will not honor it.
Will a Walmart store match the Walmart.com price?
Yes, and this is the one match the policy offers. The conditions are specific:
- You tell the associate about the online price at the time of checkout.
- The item has to be identical: same size, model, quantity, brand and color.
- That item must be in stock and available to buy on Walmart.com when you ask.
- Some matches need a supervisor's approval, and Walmart may limit them to one per customer, per item, per day.
- The match is not offered in Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
- The store manager on duty has the final word.
Which Walmart.com prices does the store refuse?
Even an online Walmart price can fall outside the match. The policy excludes these:
| Excluded | What that covers |
|---|---|
| Special-event prices | Clearance, Rollback, Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, other limited-time promotions |
| Third-party prices | Walmart Marketplace retailers and other sellers on the site |
| Offer types | Bundles, instant rebates, mail-in offers, financing offers, gift card with purchase, percentage off or BOGO ads with no stated price |
| Other locations | Prices at other Walmart or Neighborhood Market stores |
Rollback is the big one. It is Walmart's familiar sale label, and a Rollback price on Walmart.com will not be matched at the register.
Does Walmart.com adjust the price after I order?
No. For purchases made on Walmart.com, the policy says Walmart does not price match items previously bought on the site that have since decreased in price. Walmart also reserves the right to change the policy at any time, so check the page before a big purchase.
So how do you get the lower price?
Buy when the price is low. If the Rollback is on Walmart.com, the simplest route is to order there while it lasts. The hard part is knowing when that happens without checking the listing every day.
That is where a page monitor helps. With AyeWatch you paste the Walmart product link for the exact variant you want, write a rule such as "alert me when this is under $120," and get a push notification with a short summary when the rule is met. Push and the in-app feed come with every plan, and paid plans start at $9 a month as of November 2026. It reads the public page you gave it; it does not log in, buy for you or keep a price chart.
When a different tool is the better answer
If you do not care which store you buy from, Google's Track price lets you set a target price on a product card and sends a Google app notification and an email when the price falls below it, in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and India. That follows the product across sellers rather than one Walmart listing, which is the right trade if Walmart is just one of your options.
