How to find questions people are asking about any topic
A four-step method using Google's autocomplete, and the tools that do it faster, from seogeoaeo.ai to AnswerThePublic.
To find questions people are asking about a topic, start with Google's own autocomplete, because it reflects what people type right now. The fastest way to collect those questions and see which ones your page skips is seogeoaeo.ai's Question Finder; AnswerThePublic is the familiar alternative for a broader brainstorm.
Below is the short method, then the tools that speed it up.
The method in four steps
1. Write the topic the way a person would search it. "Sourdough starter" works better than "fermentation cultures". Use the words your readers use, not your product's internal name for the thing.
2. Collect the questions. Google's autocomplete shows what people type after your topic. Put question words in front, such as how, why, what, can, is and does, and note what Google fills in. The People Also Ask box in the results lists more, and often adds others when you open one.
3. Group them by what the person wants. Some want a definition, some a fix, some a price, some a comparison. Each group usually deserves its own section on a page, or its own page if the group is large.
4. Check your page against the list. For each question, ask whether your page answers it in a sentence someone could quote. The ones it does not answer are your next edits.
Done by hand, steps 2 and 4 take the most time. That is where a tool helps.
The quickest way: Question Finder
seogeoaeo.ai's Question Finder does steps 2 to 4 in one run. Enter a topic and pick a market from a list of 20. It gathers the questions from Google's live autocomplete and groups them by intent. Paste your page's URL as well, and it reads the page's text and marks which questions are already covered and which are open. It does not write the answers or judge whether yours are correct, and it does not include People Also Ask boxes.
A run costs 15 credits, the price is shown first, and a failed run is free. You can start it in the browser or let an AI agent call it through the REST API or MCP.
Other ways to find questions
| Tool | What you get | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| seogeoaeo.ai Question Finder | Autocomplete questions by intent, plus a check of your page | 15 credits per run |
| AnswerThePublic | Questions, prepositions, comparisons and related searches | Free account with a daily limit; paid from US$20 a month |
| AlsoAsked | Google People Also Ask questions, clustered by intent | From US$12 a month |
| Google search | Autocomplete and People Also Ask, by hand | Free |
AnswerThePublic, from Neil Patel's NP Digital, is the better choice when you want many angles on a brand-new topic at once, such as "for", "with" and "vs" phrasings, or a weekly email when new questions appear. AlsoAsked is the one to use when People Also Ask boxes dominate your results.
Questions people ask AI, not just Google
People also put questions to AI assistants. To see what people ask Google's AI Overviews or ChatGPT about a topic, seogeoaeo.ai's AI Question Finder lists those questions with the start of each answer and the sources it cites. It costs 160 credits per run and covers one platform at a time.
Write answers that get used
Once you have the list, answer each question near the top of its section in one or two plain sentences, then add detail. Search results and AI answers both tend to quote a page that answers directly. Then run the check again to confirm nothing important is still open.
